The alliance is Gerald N. Lund’s best contribution to the literary world. He is perhaps best known for his series, “The Work and the Glory,” which follows the lives of a fictional family as they join the newly founded Mormon church. The alliancehowever, it jumps from historical fiction to post-apocryphal sci-fi and is frankly more interesting than his most famous work.
Like most post-apocalyptic fiction, the novel is set in a devastated world. The war has left the once mighty nation almost completely devoid of life. Only a handful of people here and there have survived. They have learned to collect garbage, hunt or farm. They have managed to gather only in small, tribe-like groups. However, one city has survived and, using its advanced technology, seeks to unite all the tribes under its own power.
Although Lund’s prose lacks fluidity, the story is intriguing. The action begins in the first chapter and picks up rapidly, so that by the end of the climax your heart races and you gasp for air. That is certainly a reason to praise Lund. Surely, there is nothing worse than a slow start to a book. If there’s no action of any kind in the first 50 pages then it’s hard to imagine how it could be worth reading. In The alliance, the reader is so absorbed in the story that he does not have time to guess what will happen next. He is able to piece together clues and start to suspect something, but then he is immediately sucked into the unfolding events.
If one were to trace character development in the same way that one traces the plot of a story, the main characters in The alliance would follow a standard plot. There’s a good boy, a bad boy, and a girl who becomes a love interest. The good guy makes a few mistakes, but in the end he challenges the bad guy and gets the girl. The relationship between the character and the reader is enough to keep the action moving. However, if you are looking for a book with intriguing and complex characters, this is not the book for you.
In general, The alliance It’s a quick and fun read. It’s perfect for anyone who likes science fiction and action books. While it does give something to think about, it is not meant for deep thought. This makes it attractive to a wide range of readers. The content is also clean and easy to read for youngsters. If you are looking for good entertainment, I recommend it The alliance by Gerald N. Lund.
